Flux and Fire - New Album from Robert Gibson, on Innova, July 27
New Album release - FLUX AND FIRE
"Strings meet Poetry" - the music of Robert Gibson, with Soundings, a quartet for double basses, and Night Music, a solo for violin, viola, or cello, each recorded here, as well as Twelve Poems, for violin and piano, and the string quartets Offrande, and Flux and Fire, performed by the Aeolus Quartet, among other works. Gibson's identity as a composer is deeply connected to his experience as a performing artist. Structure and sound is often based on images of transformation. "... it is in the transience of sound that musics deepest beauty is revealed."

T.J. Anderson, 90th Birthday Celebration in Atlanta, Aug. 17-18
Join TJ Anderson and friends and family for a concert of works by TJ and his favorite composers, taking place on Friday, August 17 at 7:30pm at Canterbury Court Retirement Center (CCC) in Atlanta. Artists include John McDonald, Louise Toppin, and many others. On Saturday, Aug. 18, a mini-conference will be held in the afternoon, with a presentation of music by other residents of CCC, followed by a dinner/roast of TJ, hosted by the Anderson family, with Master of ceremonies Dwight Andrews and David Morrow of Morehouse Men's Choir.

APNM presents NEW WORKS FOR PERCUSSION with Iktus Percussion Friday May 11, 2018 at 8pm at Aret Venue and Gallery 67 West Street, #103, Brooklyn, NY 11222. Performed by Iktus Percussionists Josh Perry, Sean Statser, Dan Pate and Chris Graham with Andrea Lodge, piano; Roberta Michel, flute/piccolo and Hanna Levinson, viola. They will be premiering a new piece written for Iktus by Alice Shields - Larynx (2018) for piccolo, piano, and 3 percussionists.

Robert Scott Thompson wins prize with "Nullius in Verba" - upcoming concert in Prague, Dec. 14
Nullius in Verba, a new electroacoustic work by Robert Scott Thompson, has been awarded the Honorable Mention (second prize) at Musica Nova 2018 "Fantasy and Technology" in Prague. A concert of the selected winners will take place on December 14 atTheatre of Inspiration (HAMU), Malostransk sqr. 1, Prague 1, Entry fee 70 CZK, under 15 years free. Broadcasts of the works will follow variously around the EU.

The incomparable David Oei will present music fo solo piano and more at Mezzrow Classical Salon on Sunday, February 18 at 5pm. This afternoon concert is a celebration of Davids new solo CD of Steven Christopher Sacco's Book of Whimsy which is on the program, along with works by Bolcom, Ravel, Mozart, and much more. Stanley Alexandrowicz performs an evening of virtuoso guitar works, Feb. 3
The Genesis of Fantasy Internationally Renowned classical guitarist Stanley Alexandrowicz performs an evening of virtuoso guitar works spanning four centuries. Beginning with the masterful Ouverture de la Grotte de Versailles (de Lully) by Robert de Visee (court guitarist to Louis XIV), his program will feature masterworks by the 19th Centurys greatest composer-guitarists: Napoleon Coste (France), J. K. Mertz (Hungary), and Johann Dubez (Vienna). Contemporary compositions by some of Americas greatest living composers dominate the second half of the program, and include Ernst Bacons tuneful AmericanaHymn-tune Suite, Edward Greens powerful GenesisVariations for Guitar, Brian Fennellys urbane Maverick Prelude and Tango, and conclude with Eric Sesslers fantasy-work Bombadiliana based on Tolkien!

Classical Guitarist Stanley Alexandrowicz is internationally renowned for his thrilling virtuosity, poetic interpretations, and refined musicality. In addition to his command of the instruments standard repertoire, he has premiered and commissioned over 100 works by composers from Europe, Asia, the United States, Cuba, and Latin America.A scholar and specialist in the field of 19th Century music, he often features unknown compositions by the Romantic guitar composer-virtuosi, playing on period instruments and revitalizing works which have lain dormant (often in manuscript form) for over a century. He has given lecture-recitals internationally on both Romantic and Contemporary music, including the Institute for Advanced Study (Princeton USA), the International Guitar Research Centre (University of Surrey UK), the Baltimore Museum of Art (USA), and, the Harp-Guitar Foundation of America.

December 6th at 7:30PM at The Baryshnikov Arts Centers Jerome Robbins Theater in Midtown Manhattan, loadbang plays Commission Competition Winners. Loadbang has been focused on the establishment of a significant body of repertoire for a decade. Beginning in 2011, loadbang began their call for scores, now renamed a commissioning competition, to search for exceptional composers to collaborate with on new works. This program will feature the results of these collaborations, with pieces by Gary Philo, David Franzson, Evan Johnson, Chris Fisher-Lochhead, David Bird, and Ioannis Angelakis.
Riverside Symphony features composer Matthew Greenbaum, Jan. 20
The Jig is Up, for solo oboe and string orchestra, by Matthew Greenbaum, will be performed by the Riverside Symphony, at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, Saturday, Jan. 20th at 8pm. Featured soloist is Roni Gal-Ed, oboe. All ticket holders may also attend the Hear Hear! program for this concert at Alice Tully Hall, 7:15 pm, Saturday, January 20, 2018. Cameron-Wolfe music at 4th Siberian International Music Festival, Nov. 30-Dec.11
From November 30 to December 11, Richard Cameron-Wolfe will participate in the Fourth Siberian International Festival of Contemporary Music after adjudicating a young composers competition at the Kharkiv Opera House in Ukraine. In Krasnoyarsk, Siberia (pictured here) he will lecture on his micro-operas, participate in composer-performer roundtables, adjudicate a young performers of contemporary music competition, and perform piano music of Dane Rudhyar and Leo Ornstein on a December 3 chamber music concert in a program which will also include his early art-song Lethe and his recent violin-piano work Lilith.

On Oct. 27, Nada presented an evening of live electronic music performance in qudraphonic sound, with new work from electroacoustic composer Scott L. Miller, synthesist pooch Karton, and sound artist Michael Masaru Flora. Miller presented three works,Solstice Orerry,Orerry for Casa da Msica, and the premiere of SonAR Study I. Center for Performing Arts, 3754 Pleasant Ave, Minneapolis.
World premiere of Symphony No. 3 by Robert Carl - Nutmeg Symphony, May 12

On Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, 7 PM, the highly acclaimed British baritone, Jeremy Huw Williams, with Paula Fan, piano will perform two baritone songs by Louis Karchin: Echoes, andMemory, on a concert entitled "A Look Behind the Curtain," a presentation of works by five contemporary composers, anchored by Poulenc's iconic 1956 song cycle,Le travail du peintre. Additional works by Barbara Jazwinski, Friedrich Kern, Andrew MacDonald and Guy Sacre The concert is at NYU's Maison Francaise, 16 Washington Mews, New York City.

World Premiere Symphony No. 6, Robert Carl "Dome of Refuge" March 30
H. Leslie Adams - Greater Cleveland Flute Society, April 22
L'Amour Eternel for flute and piano by Cleveland composer H. Leslie Adams has been selected for performance by the Greater Cleveland Flute Society's Composer Connection. The composer will be in attendance and will speak about the piece at the concert on April 22nd at 7 pm at Judson Manor, 1890 East 107th Street in Cleveland.
Music of Richard Cameron-Wolfe and New Mexico composers at UNM, March 23-29
On March 25 Richard Cameron-Wolfe will be participating in the 47th annual John Donald Robb Composers Forum (3/23-29 at UNM-Albuquerque), offering his solo clarinet Variations and Liebestodin a collaborative performance featuring clarinetist Michael Gruetzner with dancers Amanda Hamp (UNM faculty) and Navy Encinias (graduate student). The Sunday, March 25 concert will take place at 4:30PM in Keller Hall, UNM College of Fine Arts (free admission). Other composers featured on the program include John Donald Robb, Annie Merrill, Hildegard Westerkamp, and Elaine Bearer. The Robb Trust promotes the exploration of new music through the UNM John Donald Robb Composers Symposium, which takes place every spring on the UNM campus. Since 1972, the internationally renowned symposium has brought composers and musicians from around the world to UNM for a series of public concerts and unique learning opportunities for UNM students.
