Apply for ACA music distribution and publishing
Why join ACA?
Promote your works to a wider audience. Join a collective publishing catalog that reaches a network of contemporary music distributors worldwide, music schools and libraries, and the general public.
Retain full ownership of your copyrights. While ACA does acquire some exclusive rights in order to properly represent its catalog, affiliated ACA composers retain full ownership of their copyrights and intellectual property.
Earn more income from more sources. Affiliated ACA composers share in the sales and licensing income from a greater range of opportunities and mechanical income streams.
ACA is always looking for great music. Applications for joining the catalog may be submitted for consideration on an ongoing basis, and are reviewed semiannually by ACA's Publishing Committee. Any composer affiliated with BMI or ASCAP is eligible.
If a composer has been active for 30+ years, a custodial plan application may be a better fit than an active member application.
There are no stylistic requirements for the music published with ACA. Composers writing contemporary concert music - chamber, orchestral, or choral - at a professional level are invited to apply.
How to Apply
To apply for membership, a composer should submit the following materials electronically to acacomposers@gmail.com.
- Between 2 and 4 of your scores in PDF format.
- Two live or studio recordings (no MIDI), submitted as audio or video links, or via Dropbox or box.com.
- A current, complete list of works with instrumentation, duration, and detailed premiere info.
- A selection of up to 10 works you would like ACA to publish if accepted.
- A resume, bio, or CV. This should contain a list of performances of your works over the past 3 or more years.
- A cover letter that includes your current publishing affiliations, your BMI/ASCAP affiliation, and how ACA would fall into your publishing plans and what you would like to accomplish with ACA.
