One of the most charismatic personalities on the contemporary music scene, Nina Siniakova is a musician with broad interests. Her music explores timeless themes of beauty, love, life, and death. Nina Siniakova’s colleagues find her style "unique and refined" (Mark Hagerty), which they believe makes her "one of the most interesting composers of her generation" (Krzysztof Meyer). Siniakova writes music in a variety of genres, ranging from contemporary intellectual to minimalism, jazz, crossover, and children's music.
Dr. Nina Siniakova is a laureate of numerous competitions, including the Andrei Petrov Orchestra Music Competition in St. Petersburg, Russia (for her Double Violin Concerto), Melodia Women’s Choir Competition in New York City (for "From the Four Winds" for women’s choir and four horns), and the Exploring the Metropolis program in New York. She has received several special scholarships and grants, including the scholarship from the Industrial Bank of St. Petersburg (as one of the top students at the conservatory), the St. Petersburg government grant "Music of St. Petersburg," and the DAAD scholarship (German Academic Exchange Service).
As a pianist and composer, she has appeared at the Belarusian State Philharmonic, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Carnegie Hall Weill Recital Hall, Harvard University, Beethoven House in Bonn, Academy of Music in Philadelphia, Zink Jazz Club in New York, and many others. For a long time she has collaborated with the leading American ballet companies, such as New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and Pennsylvania Ballet. A gifted public speaker, she has given presentations at the most prestigious music schools, including Tufts University, New York University in the US, Royal Conservatories of Brussels and Antwerp in Belgium.
Nina Siniakova began playing piano at the age of 4 and composing at 6. At 9, she wrote a piece for a children's choir titled "Wind from the South," which is widely performed in her home country of Belarus. Nina Siniakova is a graduate of the Glinka Minsk Music College, St. Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory ,and Hochschule für Musik in Cologne. She has also studied acting professionally.
