FLUXUS 8
FLUXUS 8
solo alto sax, 2-track magnetic tape(CD)
Almost all of the electronic sounds in this work are samples of many of the live alto sax segments in the piece, transformed with a mirage digital sampling keyboard. These were transferred to 7 tracks of tape, then to a stereo CD. The piece is full of jazz influences, especially those pioneers of modern jazz, John Coltrane and Ornette Coleman. The piece is based on several improvised "riffs" performed by the saxophonist who premiered the work and recorded in the studio. High difficulty - advanced performer only.
Written with the support of a NEA Composer Grant.
Movements: 1.0
