Michael Udow » White Dwarf (for Soprano or Mezzo, Tuba, and Percussion Quartet)
White Dwarf (for Soprano or Mezzo, Tuba, and Percussion Quartet)
White Dwarf (for Soprano or Mezzo, Tuba, and Percussion Quartet)
Soprano (or Mezzo-Soprano), Tuba, and Four Percussionists
Composer's Note:
White Dwarf (referencing a type of star) is a setting of whimsical and, at times, sardonic poems by the late John Updike. The work, originally composed for Mezzo-Soprano, Tuba, Piano, and off-stage sound effects, was re-orchestrated in this version at the request of Don Liuzzi for a concert at The Curtis Institute of Music. Having observed a number of performances of this work, I can safely say that audiences have enjoyed this work immensely.
