Composer's Note:

A setting of nine poems from F.D. Reeve's long-poem "The Anthill," about the life of Henry David Thoreau. The songs may be performed in denoted parts (I, II, or III), or as a whole. Originally composed in 2011 during a residency at the Yaddo Artist Colony, the work was revised in summer 2026.
