Composer's Note:

Composed for pianist Eunmi Ko, my Suite for piano is a collection of six short pieces that take their titles and character from keyboard dance suites of the past. The particular models are found in Johann Sebastian Bach’s French suites, and the titles are 1. Prelude, 2. Bourrée, 3. Sarabande, 4. Forlane, 5. Menuet, and 6. Gigue. Keyboard suites though the ages are more or less collections of dances rather than “songs” that vary in style and form. I wrote my suite with composers like Ravel, Schoenberg, Debussy, Bartok, and … J.S. Bach looking over my shoulder.
