Composer's Note:
Cumulus Over Tangipahoa was inspired by the dynamics of cumulus clouds: internal updrafts, wind shifts, thermal convections and inversions, ever-evolving shapes driven by meteorological forces. Tangipahoa is the composer's home parish (county) in Louisiana and the name of a local river. It is a Choktaw word meaning, loosely, "parched corn." This work was originally written for string orchestra and also exists in a version for symphony orchestra.
