Composer's Note:

Composed between 2012 and 2014, this work was written in Hartford, Connecticut and revised in Chicago, IL. Starting with a light and bouncy motive, the rapid pseudo-minimalist style of this work was written in response to the heavy weight of the String Quartet No. 1. 

The quartet includes two main themes. The first theme is presented at the opening, this is the staccato melody played by the viola. The second theme is a countermelody, first presented by the second violin in measures 90.
