Still Dancing

Still Dancing

Mixed Dectet 111(+bcl)0 - 0000 - perc, pno - 2111

Composer's Note:

Still Dancing is an extended “gigue” written for an ensemble of ten performers. The music is continuous and darts through the ensemble as the players twirl round each other. It sometimes slows but never stops. It touches the ground lightly, rebounding from the surface. The lightness of the music is sometimes interrupted by a dark turn, but the dance fights its way through. The dancing continues and, in the end, rides the music up into the brightening air.

Right of premiere given to the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble, Timothy Weiss, director 11/1/2025.
