INCIDENTAL MUSIC
Double Bass and Piano
Composer's Note:
Incidental Music for Double Bass and Piano is a collection of works written at different times prior to 1986. The separate pieces were all written under different circumstances with different results in mind, but none of those projects was ever carried through to completion Each piece was approached in a different way, which make them a good contrasting collection. It was not until later, however, that I realized that they share quite a bit of common material. This led me to include them in a single collection.
Like most other works I have written for the double bass, this work was intended for my own use. The collection can be performed as a single work or can be excerpted as individual pieces or a suite. The first four pieces are short and rather singular in expression. The last, however, is more extended and complex.
