Songs from Eric's Book

Songs from Eric's Book

Soprano, Oboe, Viola, Double Bass, and Piano

Composer's Note:

Eric Crozier presented me a collection of unpublished materials when we met in Aldeburgh in February 1994. We shared a lovely day and deep conversation.  During my train ride back to London I read and was charmed by these pieces, so when I phoned to thank him and Nancy Evans for their hospitality, I mentioned that I'd like to set some of them to music. He seemed flattered and verbally gave his assent.  I sent him a Xerox of the manuscript in late August that year but, alas his obituary was sent to me by our mutual friend, Garreth Morrell, shortly afterward, so I never knew if he'd received or seen them.
