Transformational Etudes

Transformational Etudes

Solo Piano

Composer's Note:

Transformational Etudes takes a series of abstract paintings by Irv Abrams as their starting point. The four central etudes portray images found in the paintings while the opening and closing etudes evoke the texture (but not the tonality!) of Chopin's Op. 10 No. 1 etude. The Fanfare review of the recording calls this " a richly flavored and beautifully crafted set of six short impressions."

For Michael Boriskin.
