Composer's Note:

This work was commissioned by violinist/violist Christina McGann, as a pedagogical piece for students of the Blair Academy Pre-college Program. It explores variations of the famous "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" melody, as it passes through various historical idioms and practices. It is intended for young violinists (most likely high school, perhaps middle school), with the Violin VI part serving as the "leader" of the group (e.g. a teacher).
