Triolet
Triolet
Flute, Violoncello, and Harpsichord
Program Note from the composer:
Triolet was written for the Society for New Music's summer season. It grew from a seedling I just happened to have planted one day in my computer, then forgot.
When asked if I had a piece for flute, cello, and harpsichord appropriate for the summer concerts, I remembered the seedling, began to tend it, water it, feed it, and of course it grew, grew and grew. In keeping with the spirit of what is often a light and joyful time of year, the piece plays with a few brief, rather tonal ideas and bits of melody, tossing them back and forth as if simply enjoying the exercise of growing rather bigger than expected.
