Text source: Story by Dr. Chester Pierce of Harvard University, racial trailblazer in the mid 20th C. He was the first African-American to play in a major college football game at an all-white university in the South. Pierce was an advisor to NASA and also helped launch the TV show Sesame Street. The story of Shell Fairy is from his imagination, he thought of as a vehicle to improve African American understanding (note from the composer). Adaptation and lyrics by: Sara S. Beattie
