Composer's Note:

There are a great number of repeated pitches in Ritual, a somewhat unusual practice in vocalises. For this reason the performer is invited to employ consonants and/or changes of vowel at will to differentiate between adjacent notes of the same pitch. The notation of slurs and other expressive marks is borrowed from woodwind notation.
