Composer's Note:

Shared Experiences (2023) is another experiment in open score composition. The piece can be played by any size ensemble by any instrument. The title came as I was constructing the work. All the players are given the same music. I thought about how the musicians would work together in a given period of time to create a single musical performance by playing the same musical gestures but interpreting them independently. They may be influenced by the other performers, but each person would approach the music differently. Their combined experiences would create the performance.

Shared Experiences is an open score piece that can be performed by any size ensemble and played by any instrument. The score presents two parts: one for pitched instruments and the other for non-pitched. Pitched instruments play the notated music using the clef usually associated with their instrument. There is no need to transpose the part.
