Winner of the 1964 BMI Student Composer’s Award, Three Scenes for Voice and Piano is comprised of three settings of German expressionist texts for mezzo soprano and piano. Chosen for both their depth and their humor, these texts and Rhodes’ setting of them explore a full range of emotions within the German literature, translated into English.
