Three Fantasies for Four Violins

Three Fantasies for Four Violins

Four Violins

Composer's Note:

After initial conception, in 1970, composition of the Three Fantasies was completed in 2019. Individually, the violin parts are of moderate technical difficulty, with melodic qualities suggestive of Renaissance polyphony. Heard together the parts produce a complex post-tonal fabric incorporating canonic and contrapuntal procedures reminiscent of the Fantasias for viols by Henry Purcell.
