Composer's Note:

Concerto For Oboe And Strings was composed for Katie Oprea and the Burlington Chamber Orchestra. It is a lively and tuneful piece in one movement. While the oboe, as expected, is supreme, the strings are never entirely subsidiary, often contending, and sometimes individually significant. A pastoral quality is evident in the oboe’s opening rhapsody, and the concerted sections resonate noticeably with attitudes of American nature writing.
