Humor and mischievousness abound as an 8-note motivic figure twists and turns its way through organically developing variations, this music for solo oboe is an abstract story, told with winks and nudges, ending with a sly fermata.
Dedicated to the memory of Ruth Crawford (1901-1953), 'R.C. Variations' takes as its inspiration the Allegro from her 'Diaphonic Suite No. 1' for Solo Oboe.
