Prelude and Fugue in the Time of COVID

Prelude and Fugue in the Time of COVID

Organ

Composer's Note:

Composed in 2021, the Prelude and Fugue reflect on the difficulties of enduring the pandemic: from first awareness of the spread of the contagion to isolation and survival. The music is melancholy but cathartic, full of grief but also containing notes of hope and endurance. The complete work was premiered in Manhattan in the spring of 2021 by Claudia Dumschat.

The movements may be performed together or as stand-alone pieces. The Prelude is an intermediate-level of difficulty while the Fugue is advanced.
