Composer's Note:

These two duos are part of a growing group of duets currently being written for violin and viola, and were designed to be played as a contrasting pair. Thermal is slow and sustained, and was partially inspired by watching hawks circle high in the sky. After a relatively slow introduction that hearkens back to the sustained style of Thermal, Dance switches gears and becomes fast, rhythmic, and propulsive.
