Composer's Note:

Toccata Gioiosa for piano evokes expressions of a joyful, delightful toccata, both jazzy and rapturous. I have always been deeply influenced by my own extensive jazz playing background and have worked many years towards synthesizing the elements from my classical and jazz past into an inclusive compositional voice. Toccata Gioiosa, reminiscent of the bebop jazz era of the 1940s, is in a brisk and brightly syncopated tempo with continuous developing variations and driving angular gestures, framed by a contemplative prelude and musically inverted postlude.
