PIECE FOR UNACCOMPANIED CLARINET
PIECE FOR UNACCOMPANIED CLARINET
Clarinet
Composer's Note:
"Piece for Unaccompanied Clarinet" is virtuosic in nature. The basis of the work is the melodic line, consisting of a series of highly characterized musical phrases or gestures. The overall ornamental quality of the line itself results in a filigree-like musical texture. The rhythmic character of the piece is ametric. The music is freely atonal and based on a motivic cell with a limited intervallic content. The improvisational quality of the piece as a whole is the result of the intuitive handling of both rhythmic and melodic cells throughout the piece.
