O Magnum Myterium

O Magnum Myterium

SATB Choir with Piano or Organ

Composer's Note:

O Magnum Mysterium is a traditional Latin text for the Holy Matins of Christmas, dating from the 10th century.  The current setting was written to commemorate the 2000th anniversary of the birth of Christ, and received its premiere on Christmas Eve 2000.  The words express the simple sentiment of mystery and awe at the sight of the newborn Christ among the animals in the manger, and the miracle of the Virgin birth.  This short setting is appropriate for both liturgical use and performance in choral concerts.  It works equally well with either piano or organ accompaniment.

Publisher's Note:

Both the version with piano and the version with organ are printed in the same booklet.
