Commissioned by the Essex Chamber Music Players, The Memory Garden completes a triptych of trios along with 2018's The Shadow Dancer, and 2019's The Dream Angel. This work is about memory, as the title suggests, and ideas are heard in fragmented forms, all eventually coming together toward the end of the work. While it is not directly dedicated to my brother Jory who died suddenly on August 9th 2019, it is hard for me not to imprint some of my feelings about this loss into the music.
