Composer's Note:

Formed from three incomplete sketches, this work for eight cellos follows in the footsteps of my First Cello Quartet, written for Ronald Lowry's cello ensemble in 2016. With double the trouble for this work, I seek to present a low ascent in the first movement (waking up tired is the idea), a philosophical/existential tone in the second, and a precise, edgy quality in the third. It is a thrill to work with Ron and these excellent young cellists.
