Composer's Note:

Commissioned by NPR affiliate radio station WKAR, with special thanks to Hal Prentice, music programmer. The premiere performance was in February, 1978, by the Beaumont String Quartet at the Kresge Arts Center in East Lansing, Michigan. The production of the 2021 revised version was prompted by a conversation with Rick McRae, Cataloging Librarian with the Sibley Music Library. I'm grateful for the spark it provided me to create this revision.
