QUINTET FOR PIANO AND STRING QUARTET

The Quintet for Piano and String Quartet was composed over a span of three years.The first movement, Shaping the Invisible, was commissioned by the New York State Music Teachers Association with funds from the Music Teachers National Association. The music was written for the Cassatt Quartet and pianist Stephen Heyman, who premiered the work in Syracuse on October 16th, 2004. The remaining movements, Glacier and Spring Images, were commissioned by the Finger Lakes Chamber Enemble, who gave the premiere of the entire work in Ithaca on October 22nd, 2006. The quintet was extensively revised in 2014, with a shortened second movement.
