The electronic portion of "Kindred Spirits," Arthur Kreiger's composition for violoncello and electronic sounds, was realized in his Cummings office/studio where it was completed in the summer of 2017. "Live' cello and prepared soundtrack sometimes work alone to establish individual identities. At other moments these kindred participants join together, and in doing so, fashion unique blends of fanciful timbre. Contrast drives the emerging structure: loud versus soft, high versus low, pitch versus noise, arco versus pizzicato, rapid articulation versus slowly evolving harmony, cello versus electronic sound.
