Composer's Note:

Written for the ambitious River Festival of St. Mary's College, Maryland, the Chesapeake Festival Overture was imagined with the locale of the premiere in mind: an open amphitheatre not far from the banks of the Chesapeake Bay. The work seeks to capture the excitement of an imaginary celebration and is also intended as an orchestral showcase. It was commissioned by the Fromm Music Foundation at Harvard University."
