June in the Wildlands

June in the Wildlands

Flute

Composer's Note:

Composed during the pandemic, June in the Wildlands takes as inspiration the unpredictable flight paths of insects in a late spring garden. The music is bouncy and highly rhythmic; a melodic line characterized by wide leaps, staccato articulations, and accents gives a sense of freedom, joy, and excitement. Challenging but idiomatic for the flute, June in the Wildlands follows its own internal logic as it winds its way through sunny garden paths.
