Haegeum & Kwaenggwari

Composer's Note:

Evocation is written for Haegeum and Kwaenggwari. (Haegeum is a Korean "violin"; Kwaenggwari is a small gong used in Korean folk music.) Kwaenggwari produces a unique and beautiful spectrum when it is struck and bowed in certain unconventional ways. The Haegeum melodic line explores higher and higher resonances as the piece evolves. Evocation is composed for and is dedicated to Jones' friend LYUH Soo-Yeon.
