In a Flash

Organ (3 Manuals)

Composer's Note:

In a Flash is my response to organist Fintan Farrelly’s commission fora two- recital opener. The idea flashed into mind and inspired the burst of music. Tempo, interactions among the keyboards and pedals, and timbral shifts all contribute to the dynamic. I would like to thank organist Jeremy Thompson, Music Director of the First Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville, Virginia, for sharing his deep knowledge of the thickets of registration options, as well as the opportunity to explore the timbral richness of the church’s Casavant
Frères organ.
