Composer's Note:

In Chiaroscuro, there is a backdrop of long notes played in the woodwinds and brasses that goes throughout the entire piece, providing the harmonic framework for the piece. Against this, melodies are played in the strings and sometimes in the woodwinds that come out from this background. "Chiaroscuro," meaning "light-dark," the long tones are the dark and the melodies are the light. The piece was composed in the April, 2024.
