MASS FOR CHILDREN'S VOICES (1978)

MASS FOR CHILDREN'S VOICES (1978)

Children's Choir, 4 Cellos, and Piano

Composer's Note:

The Mass for Children’s Voices was conceived as a children’s plea for world peace—designed for high-level children’s choirs. The extended “pacem in terra” section at the end of the Agnus Dei, and the long melisma on “pacem” which ends the work, serve as a reiteration of the traditional “Dona Nobis Pacem,” and are intended as peaceful yet urgent yearnings for a serene world of the future—a still unrealized reality echoed in the tolling, unresolved chords which conclude the piece.

Publisher's Note:

Each cellist reads from their own copy of a part containing all 4 cello parts, individually formatted for each player's page turns.
