Lee Gannon

March for Flute and Piano

March for Flute and Piano

Flute and Piano

Editor's Note:

Not much is known about this short March for flute and piano, penned before Gannon began his full expansion into his compositional powers. Much like the Etude-Caprices, it was probably penned as a bit of a challenge to the composer himself. One can imagine his own sense of playing infusing the work - the challenge of clean staccato tonguing at forte, the embouchure technique required for smooth large leaps, and creating an attractive yet forceful sound in the altissimo register.
