Composer's Note:
Written in fall of 2021, Insurreflections is what we hoped would be the last of five annual commentaries on presidential politics since 2016. Though still juicier issues have come up since then, January 6 and its constellation of events and reactions are unfortunately still relevant. “Insurrection” addresses the events of January 6, 2021. “Unrequited” is a love song, sung by Vice President Mike Pence. “A Bedder Way” marvels at opposing interpretations of the same events.
