Composer's Note:

This suite of five pieces was written for my friend German pianist Julia Bartha in 2013, hence the combination of German and English titles. The music grows out of heterogeneous influences, too, with hints of Schoenberg in the first movement, Berg in the expressive "Blumenstücke," and big band jazz in the two scherzos. Outgoing and virtuosic, the work as a whole is  integrated by its underlying musical materials, and ends unexpectedly with an intimate lullaby.
