A virtuosic showpiece for solo clarinet exploring the possibilities for lyric playing and polyphonic projection as well as multiphonics. The three movements are: 1. Fantasia-Polifonica I, 2.Interlude (with song, based on a setting of e. e. cummings), and 3. Polifonica II-Coda. Written for Murray Colosimo with an American Music Center Commissiones Award. TESSERAE VII is the source for the later TROPES AND ECHOES for solo clarinet and orchestra or solo clarinet chamber ensemble.
