Composer's Note:
Exploratory follows the path of an intrepid adventurer, setting off on an unknown quest for mysterious purposes. Each member of the quartet takes a turn telling the tale as themes are passed around the ensemble. From a brave beginning, the adventurer faces the fear of the unknown in the first section of the piece. Deciding to go on, we find majestic vistas and mysterious echoing caverns, finally emerging to find the blue sky. In the end, the traveler reflects on their life before the journey, and looks to the future with a renewed sense of hope and purpose.
