Composer's Note:

'Drones' is based on the recordings of bees taken in 2024.  The piece begins as a soundscape with an arrangement of unedited electronic samples and slowly transforms in timbre to create a very different sonic environment.  This work was made possible from a Career Development Grant from the Lake Region Arts Council (Minnesota) and the help of Drs. Courtney Grula (insect physiologist) and Brent Hulke (sunflower breeder).
