Any Number of Improvisers

Composer's Note:

"Tu(r)ning" was written for an evening of improvisations in January 2013 at the Frontier Cafe performance space in Brunswick, Maine. The dozen or so performers, called the Frontier Improvisers' Orchestra, included several of Maine's finest jazz musicians, as well as classical players with new music and improvising chops. The spirit of this piece owes a great deal to the performances and lessons of one of my mentors, Stuart Dempster, especially his collaborations with Pauline Oliveros in the Deep Listening Band.
