Composer's Note:

This piece was commissioned for a group of cellist friends who call themselves the Festival March Chamber Music Association. They have a tradition of getting together every summer in Lubec, Maine, to play chamber music. Unfortunately, the coronavirus forced them to skip their annual gathering in 2020. Mind the Kelp was intended as a celebration of their reunion in June 2021. The piece is in five short sections called Isolation, Mind the Kelp, Distant Friends, Together Again, and June Night. It is designed for good amateur players; part 4 is easier than the other parts.
