Composer's Note:

A Slow Arch/Un Arco Lento is a concert movement for flutist and string quintet, which gradually reveals its source over time----a highly lyrical and tonal melody over homophonic strings. In a sense, it is a series of variations with theme, instead of theme with variations. Its atmosphere is open, mysterious, sensual yet intense. The work was originally composed for flute and string orchestra; this version has been created to fit a chamber instrumentation.
