Ritratto dei Giorni e delle Notti su Lago di Como ("Portrait of Days and Nights on Lake Como") is inspired by the sights and sounds of the area surrounding Bellagio, a Northern Italian mountain town which perches on a promontory splitting Lake Como. The piece is overtly impressionistic, filtering into musical forms a variety of stimuli, including birdsong, antiphonal church bells, the sound of waves, the play of light on water, and the general majesty of the setting.
