Composer's Note:

ColdNightSnow is very much a winter piece and a New England piece. It has emerged in the midst of a long-delayed spring thaw.

The work takes its inspiration from the glittering and delicate sound of the two glockenspiels, and their extraordinary timbral impact when combined. The connection to the progammatic imagery suggested in the section titles should be evident, and will hopefully help guide the players' interpretation.

The piece also admits one visitor, whose song over the New England landscape is heard at a distance, about 2/3 of the way through, and may be familiar to some listeners.
