Composer's Note:
"Liaison III" is based upon the composer's chamber opera-in-progress "Liaison with Roses", which celebrates the life and art of Nicholas Roerich, as reflected in the poetry of a beautiful restaurant singer of old-style Russian "romances". The work's musical vocabulary alternates between and juxtaposes the "romance" style with a more challenging contemporary style. This transcription of the original 2010 cello/piano incarnation has been persuasively edited by New York-based violist Carrie Frey.
